Does it send extra requests to the server?

No. The only commands it sends are the ones you trigger (/skin, from the transform key) or turn on (/names, on join). The tab list and other displays only read data the server already sent.

The custom tab list isn't showing

Make sure Enable Custom Tablist is on under CustomTab in the config, and that you are holding the Player List key. The custom tab list is only used on lords.rawb.tv.

The tab list is cut off or too small

The scrolls fit themselves to the window. If they still look wrong, try a lower GUI scale in Options → Video Settings.

Where is the config file?

config/jimmytools.json5 inside your Minecraft folder. Delete it to reset to defaults.
